I'd like to share with you the Circle of Success for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners because you see, at the top of the circle in the diagram is YOU - the business owner, the business leader.
You know, when we got into the business we were so excited. We started building up our business and we were selling and we were talking to more people and we were just doing and we were doing and we were doing and doing it… And we just got exhausted, we ran out of time.
So what do we have to do? We have to go back and restart hiring employees to pick up the slack and to cover all the things that we just couldn't get to. We were just spending all of our time now in the business. We were dealing with our customers. We are trying to work with our team. We were trying to get them to do things right the first time, trying to get them to be problem solvers without having to come and ask us about every little thing.
What was really happening in our business is one really simple word to describe it. It's called chaos because we're spinning our wheels and not following this circle of success.
When we follow the circle of success, we start to begin to gain traction in our business.
See, it's our job as the owner or the business leader to support our team. We do that by providing them with a clear vision of where we want to take the company, what their roles and responsibilities are, and their function in the company, by providing them with proper training, by supporting the team through competitive pay and by providing them with benefits.
Now it is the team who supports our customers by providing them with our products and service the way our customers want to be problem solvers for our customers so we can help our customers achieve their goals.
Now, it's the customers turn to support our business by buying, by paying their bills, by buying more products and services, by referring their friends, families, and business associates to us.
Now finally the business can support you… the business owner and business leader, so you can enjoy more life. That's why we got into business in the first place.
Our 6th President of the United States, John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to do more, to learn more, to become more, then you are a leader.”
These are very powerful words and notice that he said “dream”. He didn't say “dream or learn” or “do”. He used the word “and”. So another sign of really a good leader is one who can create leaders on their team.
For any business, this is the first step in creating a more valuable and saleable business.
Working in this circle of success, you will soon have a business that is working harder, so you don't have to and now you can enjoy more life.
